Fri 10th – Mon 13th Sept 2010
Rude Racing is delighted to announce the launch of our first RUDE weekend! This will be a road trip to remember
Destination – the magnificent Nurburgring
Objective - the ultimate petrolhead’s weekend
The Nurburgring is located in the Eifel mountains in the western side of Germany, it is approx 14 miles long with 140 bends and a typical lap by a visitor takes about 10 -11 mins.
We will take the early ferry on friday, grab some breakfast on board then make the road trip to the ring, where you will have the chance to drive the famous circuit, do some sight seeing, have a party or two, eat, drink and generally have an awesome weekend!
You can come in any road legal car and you do not have to drive the circuit, though most people will I guess!

We will be at the ring by friday afternoon so that will give you the afternoon, two full days and three evenings to make the most of the weekend. Apart from the ring itself, the surrounding area is fab too with historic little towns, great scenery, excellent driving roads with little traffic and good, affordable food in pubs and restaurants.

Trip details
This trip is NOT an all inclusive package deal and not for profit! It is being organised in association with PerformanceTorque.co.uk as a private group event for the benefit and enjoyment of our customers, members and friends. We are providing some information which will allow you to book and join us, but no payments will be collected by Rude Racing, PT will collect a deposit for the B&B booking only.

The cost is 45 euros per night (about £40) per person including breakfast. The apartment can accommodate up to 15 people.

We have WiFi, free parking, gardens, a BBQ area, a balcony overlooking the track and a traditional German bar
. Next to the apartments there is a cafe, restaurant and supermarket and you can buy the ring tickets here too. Adenau is just 5 mins walk away. See summary below for booking info.

As we are departing on the 6am ferry from Dover, some of you may want to stay over at a local hotel the night before, this one is convenient. Please contact them directly to book and pay.

We will group up in Dover before boarding the ferry (details to follow). Once in France we will leave together and head for Adenau. The route is about 300 miles and will take us roughly 4hrs 30 min. A map of the route and our destination address will be issued in case we get lost or separated. Please bring your mobiles, fully charged so we can stay connected, Walkie Talkies would be good if you have them.
If you are planning to use Sat Nav – you should check if you need the detailed European map as the the normal UK and Ireland map only has the MAIN roads within europe.
Schedule (Friday afternoon, Saturday & Sunday)
We are planning to spend the evenings in Adenau as there are plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry, however you are free to venture wherever you please.
The ring is open to the public friday afternoon and all day saturday, so you can decide at the time exactly what you want to do during the days. A lap at the Ring costs about £20 and you will have to attend a briefing before they will let you loose on track. You do not have to stay with the group, so you can go explore by yourself, though it will probably be more fun to stick together. There is pleanty to do and see including a visit to the famous “Devils Bar” below.

We are pleased to announce that you and your ride will be captured on film by our professional photographer Tony Dewhurst of Pistonspy, check out the website. The photos will be available to view and purchase and customers will also get a free screensaver made up with loads of our pics:D
Return journey
We’ll be departing Adenau at roughly 6.45am heading back to Dunkirk (to be confirmed). We’ll stop off for some coffee along the way and aim to arrive at the ferry port about 12.30pm (local time). We can say our goodbyes on the ferry and then hit our routes home.
Tips
- Fill your car up whenever possible to avoid running out of fuel at odd times.
- The autobahns are only “unlimited speed limit” when it shows the ‘National Speed Limit’ sign. Please make sure you keep your eyes out for this.
- Belgium DOES NOT like speeding, so be careful!!
- Find out more info about visiting the ring at www.nuerburgring.de
Preparation
Before you LEAVE the UK make sure you follow this check list:-
- Service the car. It’s very important to make sure the car is fully serviced, check all fluids, belts, battery, lights, brakes, seatbelts and tyres, make sure the spare is good too.
- GB Sticker (If you have number plates showing GB then you don’t need a sticker)
- Headlamp Coverters
- HiViz Jacket & warning triangle
- Spare bulbs
- Check your insurance cover and documents. Can you drive legally over there?
- Strongly suggest European Breakdown cover, AA, RAC or look at ADAC cover.
- Travel Insurance
- E111 Medical Card. If you haven’t got one then see this link https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home
- Check you have a valid passport and driving license.
- Highly advisable to take a credit or debit card plus some Euros in cash. The Ring has an odd new system where you buy a pre paid card then use that to pay for the laps and everything else on site. Off the Ring you can pay using a card or cash.
For more information about visiting the Ring see http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/hotel/visit.php
Vehicle recovery on the Ring
Most of the UK breakdown services WILL NOT tow your car from the track!!
If you breakdown or crash on the Ring, there is a €175 recovery fee to get you off the track. Do not be tempted to try to avoid this by driving off after a crash, that will then get you arrested and could easily cost you thousands if someone crashes on your spilled fluids. But you can avoid it legitimately by joining ADAC and then asking for an ADAC recovery truck.
There are two main classes of membership: Classic and Plus:-
ADAC Classic is enough to get you recovered off the Ring to a local garage, and costs €44. This is one year’s insurance cover against recovery fees, plus the reassurance of mechanical assistance if you have a problem locally.
ADAC Plus includes European cover, so you can use this as a complete substitute for joining a UK breakdown organisation. This costs €78, so is cheaper than most UK deals and it includes repatriating your car to the UK if required.
Joining is slightly fiddly though without a German bank account, as the default payment method is direct debit. However, it can be done! What you do is print out the relevant application form (see below), complete it by hand, add your credit card details (there isn’t a space for this, but you can add them anyway) and fax the completed form to 0049 1805 302928 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 0049 1805 302928 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
Note that you may get charged an extra €4 because you are not paying from a German bank account.
To find the form please do a seach on the ADAC website http://www.adac.de/Default.asp?TL=2
